La dépouille endormie du Creeper repose dans la granche du fermier Jack Taggart. Les 23 ans de sommeil de la créature touchent à leur fin, et Taggart n’attend qu’une seule chose : le réveil du Creeper, pour pouvoir venger la mort de son fils cadet, survenu à la fin du cycle précédant. De son coté, Trisha Jenner, dont le frère Darry fut aussi dévorer par le démon 23 ans plus tôt, est maintenant mère d’un adolescent. Celle-ci est en proie à des horrible cauchemars répétitif, lui indiquant que son fils subira le même sort que Darry. Elle rencontre donc Jack Taggart et son fils ainée pour mettre un terme au règne du Creeper, une foi pour toute.
